Where it All Began

Hello everyone!  I figured I would introduce myself and tell you a little bit about "where it all began" for us.  By that I mean, where motherhood began for me.

My name is Colleen and have been a first time mother for a year now to a beautiful little girl named Lillian Amy.  She is my everything.  I try and spend as much time with her as possible, but it's not always the easiest.  I am currently a pediatric nurse and have been working in the nursing profession for 5+ years now.  I am also in graduate school to obtain my Master's in Nursing Education.  My goal is to someday educate the future nurses of America...that is after I get that dreaded Ph.D.  This is clearly going to be a very long road.  So apart from being in grad school, working as a nurse, and figuring out this whole mommy thing, I enjoy writing, crafting, and shopping.  Yes, I said that aloud....I am guilty, but I LOVE to shop.

Being a mother all began with the test, you know the one we all take in the bathroom and anxiously wait for the 2 minutes for the results....the 2 minutes that really feels like 2 years!  Well, I get a + and tell my husband but the first words out of his mouth are..."that's a shadow."  Uhhh nope babe sorry it's legit (ohhh men).  The next 9 months somewhat flew by but it was the moment that she landed on my chest and immediately looked into my eyes that my heart felt so overwhelmed with this love that I have never felt before.  The type of "love at first sight" that only exists with a child.  It's an indescribable feeling.  I had/have such big plans for my daughter.  The last year has flown by waayy to fast.

I have decided to start this blog more for me so that I have a place where I can write my thoughts out and maybe even inspire other mommies out there along the way.  Because lets be honest with ourselves, we are all trying to be the best we can be!  Actually, you know what, lets all take a moment and pat ourselves on the back for the awesome work that we are doing...we are raising the future of America!
